It was founded in 1986 as the Pan African Employers' Confederation (PeC). The PeC was subsequently renamed BUSINESSAfrica - Employers' Confederation in 2012. BUSINESSAfrica is the recognised voice of employers in Africa and works primarily in the areas of labour, employment and social affairs and in the context of international organisations including the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the African Union (AU). BUSINESSAfrica's members are drawn from African employers' organizations in more than 45 African countries from all regions of the continent.
